Clothing sizes differ from continent to continent. For example, a British men's size 9 corresponds to a French size 44.
It is difficult to make exact conversions between clothing sizes in different countries, as clothing sizes are not completely standardised, even within a given country, and vary from one manufacturer to another. In addition, clothing cuts vary between manufacturers and tailors.
Even taking an average of these factors, there is often no exact match: a British size 7 shoe is halfway between a French size 40 and 41, there is no size 40½. Because of these various complexities, there are variations between the size conversion charts for available clothing and a standard agreed size chart does not exist.
